Mrs Morley and the Year 12 students will be leaving the academy before Friday lunchtime, and staying overnight at a Hilton hotel in Bristol – with an evening quiz and dinner organised! After breakfast in the hotel, on Saturday we will make the journey to the University of Exeter for the conference.

We will arrive back at the academy late Saturday evening by coach, where students will be dismissed.

We look forward to visiting Exeter, and proceeding further in the Realising Opportunities programme.

Fairtrade Fortnight 2018

During the fortnight of 26th February to 11th March we are extremely pleased to be participating in the Fairtrade Fortnight 2018 – a nationwide event aiming to promote the understanding and knowledge of the Fairtrade Foundation and its work. What does it mean if we buy Fairtrade certified products? Who benefits? How is the Fairtrade Premium spent by communities in LICs?

W6 students have constructed a series of school-wide activities this fortnight, including tutor presentations, tutor quizzes, Year 8 geography lessons, in addition to the supply of Fairtrade food & drink in the staff room & sixth form common room, and posters displayed around the Sir Robert Woodard Academy.

As part of the academies goal to equip students with making informed judgments in their life choices, we think this fortnight will be very beneficial in promoting awareness of ethical shopping, and allowing students to think more critically regarding their lifestyles.

Keep an eye out around the school and online for more information, or visit the Fairtrade Foundation website for more information about their work here.
