As part of the Realising Opportunities (RO) programme, a selection of our Year 12 students will be attending the National Student Conference 2018, held at the University of Exeter. Mrs Morley and the Year 12 students will be leaving the academy before Friday lunchtime, and staying overnight at a Hilton hotel in Bristol - with an evening quiz and dinner organised! After breakfast in the hotel, on Saturday we will make the journey to the University of Exeter for the conference. We will arrive back at the academy late Saturday evening by coach, where students will be dismissed. Compulsory Year 12 UCAS Event This Tuesday 6th March, we are taking our Year 12 students to the Brighton Centre, for this year's local UCAS fair. Whether students are interested in higher education, apprenticeships, volunteer and gap year programmes, or career opportunities, they’re sure to find something that appeals to them at a UCAS exhibition. Before the event, all Year 12 students need to: Pay the £1.85 train ticket fee via wisepay Parents to complete the online permission slip (link on wisepay) Complete the UCAS registration (instructions on Canvas and below) Bring the UCAS ticket emailed to you after registration, along to the event This day will form part of our Year 12 careers guidance, and will give all of our students an insight into life as an undergradua
This Monday 5th February, we are taking all of our Year 12 students to the University of Sussex for a taster day event. This includes a campus tour and an insight into what happens during the first month of university. There is no cost for the event and lunch will be provided on the day. We ask that all Year 12 students attend this compulsory event, which will form part of their ASPIRE day, also linking well to their careers provision organised by Mrs Morley. Please complete the attached reply slip which needs to be handed in before the trip on Monday morning before departure on the coach. This Wednesday January 17th, W6 are holding a parents evening for all Year 12 & 13 students to attend with their parents. The evening commences from 4:30pm - parking is available in the main academy car park. We look forward to seeing everyone there! For Year 12 students it is important to have a discussion about how students have transitioned from Year 11 into the very demanding sixth form. For Year 13 students it is an opportunity to focus on ensuring students achieve the best that they can, particularly where they have applied to a university and acceptance onto their chosen courses will be dependant on achieving certain grades.
